Why not gift some homemade Sloe Gin (made with Murray & Yeatman Gin!) this Christmas!
Our gin has a wonderful, smooth flavour and has the perfect balance of flavourful botanicals, but if you fancy a little something different, why not make yourself some Sloe Gin this year?
Sloe Gin is a British classic, and it’s easy to see why. The sweet and tart flavour of the sloes (a type of wild plum) is a perfect complement to the juniper flavour of gin, and the result is a delicious tipple that’s perfect for sipping on a chilly winter evening.
To make your own Sloe Gin, you’ll need:
– 1 bottle of good quality gin (obviously, we recommend ours!)
– 500g of sloes
– 1 cup of sugar
Simply pierce the sloes with a fork and add them to the gin, then add the sugar and give everything a good stir. Leave the mixture to infuse for at least 3 months (the longer the better), then strain and bottle.
Sloe Gin is delicious served neat, or you can use it in cocktails. You can even add it to a dessert, like a plum crumble, to give it additional depth and warmth.
Sloe Gin also makes a great and thoughtful, homemade gift for Christmas or birthdays, so why not get out and about Sloe Picking (make sure you know which the Sloe Berries are!) or source them from your local fruit and veg seller and get crafting your own Sloe Gin!
