Vapour Infused Gin – how is it made?
Vapour infusion is a method of making gin where the botanicals – the natural ingredients that give a gin it’s unique flavour profile – never come into contact with the base spirit (generally a neutral, grain-based alcohol).
Vapour infusion is achieved by placing the botanicals into a special basket inside the still (a vessel that contains the base alcohol and can be heated). Our botanicals include Juniper, Angelica Root, Cardamon, Orris Root, Cubeb Peppers, Coriander, Cassia, Grains of Paradise, Star Anise, Liquorice, Almonds, Lemon, Limes, Oranges and Saffron. As the still is heated, vapour is released by the botanicals and these add a gentle and distinctive flavour to the base spirit.
At Murray & Yeatman, our gins are 6 times distilled and vapour infused making it silky smooth, and we think this contributes to their unique and delicious flavour!
