What Rum for Pina Colada?

The most popular rum for Pina Coladas is a light or white rum. Light and white rums are commonly used because they have a gentler flavour profile which allows the other flavours in the drink to shine through. However, if you like your cocktails with more depth you can also opt for dark or gold rums, which will give your Pina Colada a deeper and more flavourful taste.

When deciding which rum to use for your cocktail, the most important factor is personal preference. Experiment with different types of rums until you find one that best suits your taste. Here at Murray & Yeatman, our favourite rum for a Pina Colada is our own Double Dark Rum. To give this rum a richer flavour, we back-add our organic Blackstrap molasses twice through the distillation process – trust us, it’s delicious!
